'House 'o' Hill' Public House (ΒΌ mile) offers bar snacks, packed lunches and evening meals.
Newton Stewart (9 miles) has a variety of shops, restaurants, hotels, a Cinema and Swimming Pool.
Stroan Bridge Visitor Centre and tea-room (1½ miles) is the start of several forest walks and cycle trails.
Loch Trool (3 miles) is also the start of many splendid hill walks in south west Scotland.
The Wood of Cree RSPB Nature Reserve (6 miles) has a nature trail for birdwatching, complete with hidden waterfall.
